Today Archil Khabadze, the Chairman of the Government of Ajara and Zaur Putkaradze, the Minister of Agriculture visited village Makho Citrus Receiving-Sorting Plant. The plant sorts 10 tons of mandarins per hour. At present, there are 36 sorting - packing plants operating in Ajara region.
Under the current policy of the state an unprecedented amount of funding will be accumulated for the farmers this year. 12 million GEL will be allocated from the government of Georgia for financing standard-size Mandarin and 1, 8 million GEL will be allocated for co-financing realization of non-standard Mandarin.
Citrus-growing farmers will be financed with 0.15 GEL for a kg of standard-size Mandarin, when mandarin will be purchased for at least 0,35 GEL. This funding will be distributed among citrus-growing farmers living in the municipalities of Ajara, Guria and Samegrelo.
As a result the farmers will receive 43 600 000 GEL for this year, which will be 3,6 million GEL for realization of non-standard mandarin and 40 million for standard-size mandarin (which is 28 million from the purchaser and 12 million as the state subsidy.
It is noteworthy that NELP Agricultural Projects Management Agency within the 6th component of the policy is implementing the project "Concessional Agro loan for procuring enterprises." The cost is 30 million GEL. The amount of the loan is co-funned, where the state covers the 9 % of the interest during 4 month period.
With the initiative of the Ajara Government the Information Center has been formed. The information related to the funding will be available for the farmers and entrepreneurs on the following numbers: 24-78-41 ( Ministry of Agriculture ), 27-28-41 and 27-28-43 (information center ).
