The Chairman of Ajara AR Government together with the Mayor of Batumi, the Minister of Culture, Monument Protection and Sport of Georgia and the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara has congratulated staff of museums located in Ajara on the International Museum Day.
12 staff members of different museums have received awards from Levan Varshalomidze for the most significant contribution to museum activities, while 40 outstanding specialists have been awarded cash prizes by Batumi City Hall.
Gia Abuladze has hold presentation on museums development and rehabilitation of cultural heritage in Ajara. Gel 1 750 000 has been allocated for museums’ construction and rehabilitation this year. The target program envisages the construction of new museums. Museum of Batumi is to open soon. Establishment of several new museums is also planned for cultural tourism development: Open Air Ethnographic Museum, the Museum of Book, manuscripts and Arm Museum.
